Biography

While growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Dorie Maryan always aspired to become a lawyer. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and then worked as a paralegal for a big law firm in Chicago. She later took a position at a Chicago federal court. These jobs built up more than her legal experience, as her drive to achieve a career as a lawyer also grew. Dorie earned her law degree in 1997 from the Indiana School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, where she studied litigation. Her education also involved completing trial practice courses and taking part in the legal clinics at the university.

After graduation, she started practicing as a trial lawyer. She began by defending insurance companies from premises liability lawsuits and by defending drivers who had been in accidents. She excelled at trial litigation and enjoyed representing her clients, but she realized her talents were geared more toward advocating for people, not for their insurers or for companies. So in 2007, Dorie began utilizing her experience as a trial attorney to defend people who had been charged with criminal offenses. Her years of honed skills were key to her ability to help people accused of or under investigation for criminal charges.

She also realized her passion and aptitude to serve people, a passion that has led her to focus her practice on criminal defense in Indianapolis. This dedication, as well as her skill, has helped Dorie to secure phenomenal outcomes for her clients. As an Indianapolis criminal attorney, Dorie has handled cases that range from probation violation to murder, and she has defended clients in state and federal courts throughout Indianapolis, as well as in neighboring counties. She also provides assistance to people in Carmel, Indiana for issues regarding civil litigation, municipal law, and professional liability, as she is Of Counsel to House Reynolds & Faust LLP.
